Born on 16-02-1960 at Village – Govindgarh, Ajmer, Dr. Rajpurohit obtained his Ph.D degree from MPUAT, Udaipur and M.Sc. Ag. & B.Sc. Ag. from Sukhadia University, Udaipur. He started his career as Asstt. Prof. in 1996, promoted as Assoc. Prof. in 2008 and Professor in 2011. He worked at AICRP-Pearl Millet, Jodhpur and holds various responsibility of National Pearl Millet Breeding Programme and also worked as Co-Nodal Officer of Pearl Millet DUS Testing Project of PPV & FRA New Delhi & Sub leader of Pearl Millet Consortia Research Project on Biofortification. During his tenure at AICRP on Pearl millet, a total of 81 hybrids and 17 varieties of public and private sector were released at national and state level. As a Co-Nodal officer of DUS he studied 199 cultivars for DUS characters and many of them registered with PPV & FRA for Protection. He also involved in development of revised DUS Guide Lines of Pearl Millet for DUS Testing. He is Life member and Fellow of The Indian Society of Genetics & Plant Breeding. He was the member of award winning team of Choudhary Devi Lal Outstanding AICRP Team Research Award in 2003 for contribution in Pearl millet improvement and Research. During his tenure as Co-nodal Officer Pearl Millet DUS Project awarded for outstanding contribution in the field of Pearl Millet Distinctness Uniformity and Stability Test in 2011 by Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers Rights Authority, New Delhi. He also honoured by AICRP on Pearl Millet in the 52nd Annual Group Meeting held at Agriculture University, Jodhpur, Rajasthan during March 22-24, 2018 for his outstanding contribution in the field of Pearl Millet Improvement.He participated in 10 training at national and international level. He has published more than 56 Research papers, booklets and popular articles, book chapters. He has contributed in the development 3 sesame varieties and 3 Pearl Millet hybrids/ varieties at national level.
