Dr. Raju Lal Bhardwaj , Zonal Director Research - Agricultural Research Station, Keshwana (Jalore)

Born on 6thJuly 1976 at Village Indergarh, Jobner, Rajasthan, Dr. Bhardwaj obtained B.Sc. (Honours) Agriculture (1998) and Ph D Horticulture (2005) from Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner; MSc (Ag) Horticulture (2001) from MPUAT, Udaipur. Dr. Bhardwaj served as Assistant Professor/ SMS Horticulture (2008-2016) at KVK, Sirohi; Assistant Professor (2016-18) at ARS, Mandor. He joined as Associate Professor (Horticulture) in February, 2018 at Collage of Agriculture, Sumerpur. The unique strength of Dr Bhardwaj is a blending of research extension and teaching. He worked in tribal belts of Sirohi since last eight years (Feb. 2008 to 2016). He conducted 160 (off campus 1 day), 68 (on campus 2-3 days), 4 (rural youth 5-6 days) and 7 (vocational 15-50 days) trainings to infuse the concept of horticulture in tribal areas for diversifying the farming system for socio-economic security. Dr Bhardwaj being Incharge of the KVK nursery, produced and sold 2,13,225 papaya. He assisted in establishing 50 pomegranate orchards, 87 lime orchards and 345 papaya orchards in farmer’s field of Sirohi. Two OFT on tomato and one OFT on papaya cultivation practices have been recommended in Package of Practices of Zone IIB and IVA. He conducted KVK/NHM sponsored 1,079 Front Line Demonstrations on vegetable crops. He delivered more than 196 lectures on different technologies benefitting 6670 farmers. He have published 9 International, 34 National level journals research papers; 7 booklets, 13 folders, 10 popular article in English and 115 in Hindi, 14 Compendiums, 7 Books and guides, 2 Thesis, 3 book chapter, 1 practical manual and 1 chapter published in EOLSS from US for benefitting and educating society. Dr. Bhardwaj received Zonal level Best KVK Award-2012 as team member (ICAR-New Delhi); Member of best KVK team award-2011 and Outstanding work award-2012 (MPUAT, Udaipur); Outstanding work district level award-2014 for horticultural development in tribal area of district Sirohi and Bharat Jyoti Award-2014 and Bharat Gaurav Award-2015 for meritorious services in tribal area of district Siorhi (IIF Socity, New Delhi). He also received more than 7 awards from different national/state/district levels reputed organization for outstanding work in tribal dominated area of district Sirohi. Dr. Bhardwaj life member of The Horticultural Society of India, New Delhi; Society for Promotion of Horticulture, Bangalore, Indian Society for Spices, Kerala, Indian Society for Arid Horticulture, Bikaner, Society for Advancement of Human and Nature, Solan and Society for Integrated Development of Agriculture, Jodhpur. He also delivered 31 Radio talks and 73 Television talks benefitting farmers. Dr Bhardwaj is minor guide of 6 M. Sc. (Horti.) students and Major guide of 2 students and taught eleven UG level courses one PG level course at COA, Sumerpur and Jodhpur. At present Dr. Bhardwaj working as Associate Professor (Horticulture) at CoA, Sumerpur and conducted seven research trials on clusterbean, okra, ber, chilli, brinjal and tomato addition to teaching.
